Definitely not your usual cafe! Tobey’s Game Cafe Manila is like a paradise of card and board games! As for my team who wanted a place to hangout on a Saturday evening, the place was perfect! Luckily, they have Cards Against Humanity. I’ve always wanted to play this game since Franz mentioned it to me and showed me a video of Pewdiepie play it . We had 2 hilarious rounds of this card game. We wanted to try another game. The owner, Ray, recommended Squint and was kind enough to teach us how to play it. Interesting game! As for…

Maasim, Leyte: Starfish and Enchantments
by Haifa Carinaby Haifa CarinaFor the 2nd leg of our Cebu-Leyte-Bohol trip, we rode a boat from the port of Poro in Camotes Islands, Cebu to Ormoc, Leyte. Our main destination in Leyte was the town of Maasim to visit Franz’s family. Stayed there for two days just in time for Mother’s Day and his father’s birthday! During our stay here, I learned a lot about spirits, beliefs and superstitions from their relatives which I find interesting and fascinating in many ways. The place isn’t much of a tourist destination but I enjoyed swimming to see school of fishes, sea urchin and starfishes not…

Camotes Islands, Cebu: Great Choice for Chill and Thrilling Getaway
by Haifa Carinaby Haifa CarinaI am loving Cebu! I think I might consider moving there for awhile just to experience the awesome nature wonders it offers! For summer 2014, Franz and I went to Cebu as the first leg of our Cebu-Leyte-Bohol trip from May 7-13. Our main destination in Cebu is the 1.5hour drive from Cebu City and another hour boat ride to the beautiful islands of Camotes! We stayed at Santiago Bay Resort and toured the place on a motorcyle for a day. For 500 pesos, the tour already includes Lake Danao, Timubo Cave (swimming!), Baywalk, and if you’re brave enough you…

Happy 20th Anniversary Philippine Internet!
by Haifa Carinaby Haifa CarinaAs part of DevCon, I was invited together with my colleague Carlo to join the celebration of the 20th year of internet in the Philippines hosted by Smart Communications last March 29, 2014 at Manila Peninsula. It was an overwhelming crowd. The speakers and VIPs were the ones who initiated the use and spread of the internet. Even the father of internet himself, Vint Cerf, was invited to share his message for the event through a recorded video. At the end of the event was a panel where the innovators themselves got invited on stage for a panel discussion. Surely,…

Last Saturday was the birthday of our friend Joie. She decided to celebrate her birthday at Concordia Orphanage at Sta. Mesa, Manila where her guests would become parents for a day. More than half of her attendees were friends from college so we’re like in a reunion…with kids! Lol. My big brother Matt, who happen to be Joie’s former officemate was also there. For Franz and me, baby Jayson was our angel of the day. He was 2-months old with very cute dimples and adorable smile! We were playing with him and i enjoy the sound of his laugh…
