I never thought I could do a sub1 for 10k without training. And I didn’t! haha. It was Pinoy Fitness Sub1 10k Challenge. I was 15 minutes behind but I had new PRs. Yay!
The La Union trip was one of the spontaneous trips I really enjoyed. It was an out of town trip with an itinerary I didn’t know. I went swimming in waterfalls without bringing clothes. Luckily, I was accompanied by a friend whom I convinced to join me an hour before departure. One for the books!
Flew back to my hometown Cagayan de Oro this weekend to give a talk on Relevant Skills in the IT industry for the 9th Quantum and I.T. Convention (QITC). I had a momentary appreciation of legacy in action.
I’ve spoken to many events before but this one is more dear to me. 6 years ago I led a team for QITC 4. There weren’t many conventions then in my city. We hosted the event in the same exact room. Pure nostalgia.
Bucket List #20: Watch an international artist/band’s concert – front row! CHECK!
I watched The Calling concert earlier (November 11) at the Mall of Asia Arena. It was my first international artist/band concert and its one my favorite childhood/teen band so I made sure to get access to the first row for bucket list purposes. Quite pricey but definitely worth it!

DevCon Summit is organized by Developer Connect (DevCon) Philippines, a volunteer organization that promotes growth and competence of Filipino developers.
The best conferences are those driven by passion. The Techstars APAC Summit that happened last August 22 – 24, 2016 at The Bellevue, Bohol, Philipines gathered the most engaged and passionate tech and startup community leaders in region. It was my first time to join the summit and I thought it was on whole new level of collaboration, stories and learning.
Here’s a highlight video of the 3 day summit:
Illonggo people are the sweetest especially when they speak. On my first trip there, together with my companion JP Sibug of Microsoft Philippines, our agenda was to meet with the tech community.
Since DevCon has a chapter in Iloilo, our team organized and gathered the folks in partnership with Dojo 8 Coworking Space. Its quite a small world as many of the people there I met in previous tech gatherings in the Philippines.
Im very happy with turnout of the meetup as people starting sharing potential partnership opportunities. The main message of the meetup was to encourage collaboration among local communities as it is the surest way to strive in this ever growing and changing industry.
When in Iloilo, we stayed at Injap Tower Hotel as recommended by my colleague’s friend. It didn’t disappoint!
I managed to take few snaps. I thought its worth featuring. I learned the owner is the same group who founded the notorious Mang Inasal foodchain. It was the first time for me to stay in a hotel with a microwave inside! What i truly like about this hotel is definitely the location. It is just across SM Iloilo and beside that mall are wonderful European vibes restaurants. Its relatively affordable and also near the airport. The staff were very accommodating.
Today I got my keys to my first rented condominium unit in Makati City. I am moving out from our apartment and moving in to Jazz Residences where my work is walking distance away. In this post, I’ll share with you how I ended up there.
